Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar has been the subject of multiple online rumors as of late; suggesting his impending retirement from MMA due to diverticulitis.
During a conference call this morning announcing the main event for UFC’s debut on FOX, White called the rumors “ridiculous.”
White went on to say, “It's so far from the truth it's not even funny. The guy's working up on a farm in Canada all summer. He's 100 percent.”
Lesnar was scheduled to fight Junior dos Santos at the conclusion of the 13th season of the Ultimate Fighter. Lesnar was forced to remove himself from the bout when diverticulitis came back around for a second time.
In May, Lesnar underwent corrective surgery; a 12-inch section of Lesnar’s colon was removed during this procedure. All signs indicated Lesnar would return to the Octagon in 2012.
With White squashing those rumors, he did confirm Lesnar was weeks away from beginning his training camp for his return. No estimate of his return was revealed during today’s conference call. But if Lesnar’s preparing to return, we should hear an announcement within the coming months.
